Sister Rosela  recommended these smoothies during our November 2, 2009 show.

Here she spells out their benefits and gives a few options.
Green Smoothies have numerous benefits for human health.

Highly nutritious. The ratio in them is optimal for human consumption: about 60% ripe organic fruit mixed with about 40% organic greens.

Green smoothies are easy to digest. Ensure that you blend it well so that the cells in the greens and fruits are ruptured, making the valuable nutrients easy for the body to assimilate. Green smoothies literally start to get absorbed in your mouth.

Green smoothies, as opposed to juices, are a complete food because they still have fibre. Consuming fibre is important for our elimination system.

With a ratio of 60:40 the fruit taste dominates the flavour, yet at the same time the greens balance out the flavour adding a lovely zest to it.

A molecule of chlorophyll closely resembles a molecule of human blood. Consuming chlorophyll is like taking an internal bath. By drinking 2 or 3 cups of green smoothies daily you will consume enough greens for the day to nourish your body and all of the beneficial nutrients will be well assimilated.

Easy to make and quick to clean up in contrast to messy and time consuming juicing which people usually abandon for those reasons.

Green smoothies have been proven to be loved by children of all ages which is perfect considering it is sometimes hard to ensure children eat enough greens. Of course you must take care with young babies over 6 months making sure you slowly increase amounts to avoid allergies.

When you consume greens in the form of smoothies you are greatly reducing the consumption of oils and fats in your diet.

Regular consumption forms a good habit of eating greens and many people find they start to crave and enjoy eating more greens.

While fresh is always best, green smoothies will keep in a cool temperature for up to 3 days which can be handy when at work or while traveling

Below are four green smoothie recipes. They are merely basic ideas for your own green creations. Feel free to substitute these ingredients with your own choice of fruits and greens.

Apple-kale-lemon

4 apples
½ lemon juice
5 leaves of kale
2 cups water/rice milk

Peach-spinach

6 peaches
2 handfuls spinach leaves
2 cups water/rice milk

Strawberry-banana-romaine

1 cup strawberries
2 bananas
½ bunch romaine lettuce
2 cups water/rice milk

Pear-kale-mint

4 ripe pears
5 leaves of kale
½ bunch mint
2 cups water/rice milk
